Sulfya was born and raised in Malaysia. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Finance from the University of Melbourne. She is currently based in Singapore and has been in the banking industry for much of her 10-year career. Her experience in the financial markets spans client coverage, deal origination, structuring and execution of debt financing.
Although her daily routine revolved around pitch books, term sheets, financial and credit analysis, she had always felt an inextricable pull towards education which was a central theme in her upbringing.
Covid-19 was a life-changing moment where she began conducting voluntary weekly reading sessions to children from disadvantaged family backgrounds with poor reading abilities. It only seemed natural when she took on a part-time teaching role at a primary school daycare center at Pasir Ris, Singapore, managing children from Primary 1 to 5.
An opportune coffee session with Ainaa turned into a chance to lead Tech Up’s inaugural fund-raising exercise for the Company’s advanced gamified simulation software.
Her banking experience, powered by her love for education are key to Tech Up’s next phase of growth as they further cement their position in Malaysia, grow their software business and penetrate international markets, sparking joy in STEM learning one country at a time, starting with Singapore.
